Bottom Rails
The Unique Fire Curtain System is designed and tested for our bottom rails to both protect in a fire situation and look cosmetically pleasing in a non fire situation.
The bottom rail is designed that when in the up position it is within the headbox and not hanging in the open position like some other manufactures.
If brush seals are fitted most manufactures require the bottom rail to hang down clear of the strips because it jams the bottom rail, this leaves the cosmetic appearance unsightly when the building is in normal use.
The Unique Fire Curtain bottom rail is within the headbox area and no brush seals to cause obstruction or fault once installed.
Guides
Because the Unique Fire Curtain System does not use unsightly dangerous brush strips our guides CAN be concealed within a wall, BS 8524 states that if brush seals are fitted you MUST leave guide access.
In the British Standards 8524 Document it states the following
There are different types of edge seals available to minimize smoke leakage through barrier assemblies. These seals are designed to restrict the flow of smoke while maintaining integrity when installed to the barrier assembly (see Clause 6).
Damage to or degradation of smoke seals can have a significant and adverse impact on the ability of a barrier assembly to perform its designated function. Where a seal is missing in part or in total, it should be replaced immediately. To maintain the design performance, the replacement seal should be of the same formulation, dimensions and configuration as that in the manufacturer’s fire test report.
Replacement seals should be fitted in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Smoke seals should be replaced if they are damaged or are not making adequate contact with adjacent barrier assembly components. Such seals should be replaced as continuous lengths, as joints are a further source of potential leakage.
