Unique Fire & Smoke Curtains 

Most fire curtain manufactures offer smoke protection as an option if building control request this, when they do require smoke seals they use brush strips to stop smoke leakage, these brush strips only protect against smoke if there is NOT a fire, if there is a fire the brush is nylon and burns and the carrier is aluminium and melts within minutes giving NO protection in a fire situation. It is also now required by BS 8524 that all brush strips be inspected every six months and replaced where necessary, access to the guides must be given to allow the replacement if necessary, if no guide access, it does NOT meet BS 8524 requirements. These brush strips can also jam the curtain when in the up position causing major problems and the installer leaves the curtain down within the opening so the curtain can operate correctly.
